So you can get an idea of the sort of things we do, here is a selected list of events organised or attended by the Oxfam Cambridge Campaigns Group from the winter of 1998. Monthly group meetings are not included.

Sun 8 July 07 11am - 4pm Parker's Piece, Cambridge Big Weekend Stall - Raised money for Oxfam's work in Darfur and Chad and promoted Fairtrade goods. £72 raised for Oxfam's work in Darfur and Chad.

11am - 5pm Midsummer Common Strawberry Fair Campaigns Stall - Campaigned for greater funding for health and education in developing countries and promoted Fairtrade goods.
181 Action cards on Health and Education sent to G8 summit.
Sun 20 May 07 8am - 6pm Stourbridge Common, Cambridge Cambridge Oxfam Walk - Sponsored walk to raise money for Oxfam's emergency work.

Over 1500 people walked to raise money for Oxfam.

£27.40 collected for Oxfam.

Saturday 15 July 11am - 4pm Parkers Piece, Cambridge Big Day Out - Oxfam Campaigns stall Obtained 59 portraits and 58 photos for the Million Faces arms photo petition.
Monday 3 July 7.30pm Portland Arms, Mitcham's Corner, Cambridge Toujours Afrique - Fundraising concert of African Music for Oxfam's East Africa Appeal Rasied £495.05 for Oxfam's East Africa Appeal.
Saturday 3 June 06 11am - 4pm Midsummer Common Strawberry Fair Stall - Campaigning on the theme of Fairtrade and giving out Fairtrade food samples. 114 people signed up for Oxfam's Big Noise trade petition. Fairtrade food promoted.
Sunday 14 May 06 8am - 6pm Chilford Hall, Linton Oxfam Sponsored Walk Around 1500 people walked to raise money for Oxfam. Amount raised to given later this year.

Interesting talks and discussions about Oxfam's work around the world. Good venue for networking.

Biggest demonstation ever in Scotland!

Fri 1 July 12.30 for 13.00 Great St. Mary's Church, Market Square, Cambridge

A white band will be placed around the church to support the Make Poverty History campaign. Wear all white - shirt, t-shirt, jacket.....

Show the G8 leaders Cambridge cares.

Press and Radio coverage was achieved and the Mayor of Cambridge gave a speech.
Sat 4 June 05 10.00 - 18.00 Midsummer Common Strawberry Fair - Oxfam stall promoting various campaigns including the Make Poverty History Campaign.

Sold over a hundred wristbands for the Make Poverty History campaign and sent signatures to Tony Blair.

Sun 15 May 05 All day Wimpole Hall Oxfam sponsored walk

Estimate that over £40,000 was raised. Exact figure to be announced in the Autumn.

13 July 2002 All day Big Day Out, Parkers' Piece Campaigns stall Fed lots of chocolate, and recorded people's support for making trade fair - digitised recordings to come.
8 June 2002 All day Strawberry Fair Campaigns stall on Africa and Fair Trade 115 G8 Africa cards signed, many more handed out. Lots of chocolate, coffee and tea samples, and the Fairtrade Mark explained to many people.

16 March 2002 7pm Cambridge Drama Center, Covent Garden Fairtrade fashion show. Good turnout of about 70 people, fun event. Lots of clothes sold and wine tasted.

4 March 2002 7:00pm Cambridge Blue pub, Gwydir Street Talk by Rici Lake who works for Oxfam in South America. Monthly group meeting. We chatted about the history of Peru, Oxfam's work in the area and lots more.
10 December 2001   St Matthew's Primary School Two talks on Afghanistan to children Kids asked lots of questions. Rosie and Sunil enjoyed giving the talk - if another school wants a speaker, please ask!

27 July 2000 - 30 July 2000 All day Cambridge Folk Festival Education Now campaigning with the Oxfam office. Lots of support!
28 July 2000 2pm Alex Wood Hall Arms trade campaign with Amnesty International, lobbying Anne Campbell. Detailed discussion about closing arms trade loopholes, and getting the agreed Labour party legislation in this year's Queen's Speech. Anne agreed to personally write to Robin Cook about the matter.
